Energy bills have reached record highs for many Brits this quarter, and National Grid has warned of blackouts this winter due to a “challenging winter”. With a new app from energy management company Equiwatt, households can do just that and earn cash incentives.

People who link their smart meters to the app will also be able to support the National Grid demand flexibility trials this winter. They will also be able to get a £3 per kWh incentive.
National Grid and ESO warned that blackouts could occur between 4pm and 7pm this winter if the country couldn’t import enough gas from Europe.
Equiwatt’s app sends notifications to turn off appliances or avoid using them during peak times, like fridges, washing machines, and electric vehicles (EVs) to help households save energy.
You can even automate participation with smart plugs and smart EV chargers, and track energy savings with smart meters.
Johnson Fernandes, Equiwatt CEO said: “The more people come together to reduce energy demand at peak times, the wider impact we will have on reducing strain on the electricity grid and avoiding disruption to our energy supply this winter.
“Better still, householders can do their bit to help reach the UK’s Net Zero targets.”

Remember that these energy price rises are meant to be permanent: a WEF Young Global Leader Warned that: “The next five to ten winters will be difficult.” The year 2030 will dawn in eight “difficult winters.” Coincidence?
